What to Wear

What do we Wear?

This is usually the toughest part of a session. Of course it is up to you, but here are some helpful tips

Clothes should not distract from the subject
This does NOT mean you shouldn’t wear patterns. This simply means, wear clothes that compliment and not distract. For example, a large Logo across someone’s chest WILL draw more attention than a subtle logo shirt.

Patterns are totally okay
Depending on the look you are going for, patterns may very well fit the vision you are after. If you want something more along the trendy and modern lines, patterns may be just the trick. However, if you want something more classic, and timeless, patterns would be something to stay away from.

• For family group images patterns actually work well, find maybe one or two patterns as a base and then use matching solids to coordinate the rest of the families outfits.

• For kids sessions, Fun patterns can really enhance the image, so don’t be afraid to be a bit more bold.

Coordinate the colors
Coordinating colors is important, but that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone should weear the same exact colors. Have fun with complimentary colors.

• Use two or three base colors, and then find different shades to compliment.

• Don’t be afraid of black and white. These colors can be timeless. If you are wanting these colors but want to spice it up a bit, maybe throw in a funky b&w hair bow or b&w patterned shirt under a sweater vest. Don’t be afraid to jazz-up the classic.

Pay attention to the details!
its all in the details –  The little things matter like shoes, belts, accessories, and socks, this can be the difference of loving or hating an image.

For men, they often like to wear the most comfortable pair of shoes they can, but will that look good in the picture? Match the shoes to the outfit!

• Have fun with accessories! But be careful not to overdo-it.

• Layering your clothing is a great way to spice up the image.
